Have you ever...ridden a rented bike to a windmill in the middle of a city?
In Amsterdam the most popular form of transportation is the bicycle, and with over 700,000 of them, there is never a problem finding one to rent. Taxis, trams, and cars all share the road with you, but as long as you pedal slowly and drive carefully, there is no better way to explore this vibrant city. Sailing alongside canals you can peep into houseboats, race past the Torture Museum, and stop to picnic just about anywhere you want, including underneath one of the eight windmills in the city. Two are open to visitors and the rest, like the historical Riekermolen on the side of the Amstel River, provide the perfect eye candy for your day tour on two wheels.
