Must See & Do

Grouse Mountain and Grind  
You can hike the 2.9km trail to the top of Grouse Mountain, which stands at 3700 ft. Then take the skyride down for $5. N. Vancouver.

Stanley Park  
Stanley Park, a semi-wilderness haven, has everything from an aquarium to nature trails, lakes, gardens and a sea cannon which is fired off every night at 9pm. Within the 1,000 acres, is a 10km (6-mile) seawall, a great place to rollerblade, bike or walk. It offers views of the ocean and the mountains around Vancouver. The park is located just north of downtown at the end of Beach Ave.

Tennis   
There are over 180 free public courts including 15 in Stanley Park, 17 at Queen Elizabeth Park (33rd/Cambie) and 10 at Kitsilano Beach Park. All are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Lookout  
A glass skylift takes you up over 500 ft. for spectacular views of the city, water and mountains. 555 W. Hastings St. Top of Harbour Centre. Costs $13, $9 with a student id. (604) 689-0421

Gastown  
This Victorian neighborhood was the birthplace of Vancouver back in the 1860’s. Today, it’s quite touristy, with street artists and the world’s first steam powered clock.

Museum of Anthropology

Excellent bars and clubs are located all around Vancouver including Gastown and Granville and Richards Streets. Many of the hostels have their own pubs. There are many cheap eats around the city. You can get an excellent burger and beer for $5 at Cambie Bars . Or head to Kitto Japanese House at 833 Granville St. for inexpensive sushi ( $1+ per piece)! You can head to the Chinatown Night Market Fri-Sun or to the Punjabi Market on Main and 49th Sts. It’s the heart of the Indian community with bakeries, restaurants, saries and more. Also check out the cheap markets in Little Italy.
