Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon is filled with hoodoos - pillars of rock that look like pinnacles and spires. It lies at an elevation of over 8,000 feet. If you arrive in November, you may even see snow.  Bryce is located in Utah, 86 miles from Zion National Park and due north of the Grand Canyon. The visitor center is located 4 miles from the intersection of Rts. 12 and 63. It is open year round. Information about free ranger-led tours and activities as well as self-guided hikes/walks is available at the visitor center. The closest hostels are located in Kanab and Hurricane, Utah, and Page, AZ.

Things to See & Do

Rt. 63 takes you 18 miles through Bryce Canyon National Park, along the canyon rim, down to Yovimpa Point at the south end of the park.

Viewpoints
There are a number of lookout points along Rt. 63, many of which are a few miles off the main road. Fairyland, Sunset, Farview, Yovimpa and Rainbow points all offer excellent views not to be missed.

Hiking Trails
Over 50 miles of hiking trails are available in the park. The Rim Trail is an 11 mile, 5-6 hr. r/t hike along the rim of Bryce Canyon. The Queen’s Garden Trail is a fun trail that goes down over 300 feet from the rim at Sunset Point and takes 1.5 hrs r/t. You’ll meet quite a few friendly squirrels on this trail!
